Marinera Nortenia is a very popular folk dance of Peru. But dancing with the paso horse is a special porfermance every year in Lima and Trujillo. I never dance with a horse but my partner on the floor. The show of paso horse is very exciting and takes you back to those old days.
When I paint this work, I did not know how to use obvious brush stroke and fell into the trap of the details. Spent a looooooot of time to the details. Anyway, hope that it shows you a different beauty of people. Any critics , suggestions about this work are warmly welcomed.

Impressive.  The figures are extremely well executed, as is the fabric.  Dramatic painting.

George, Thank you so much for your time to write the comments. I will keep on working and improving. Figurative painting is so difficult for me as I have not learned how to paint human being. The good thing is that I am not a pro. Or my whole family would have no bread to eat.

George, I will follow what you said and to see what going to happen. Thank you again.

Dear Ningning, I belive that this is your most curageous subject to paint. Your hands are now fully prepared to explode in creating beauty. I red Michael's comments and agree of course with all what he says. Please accept congrats from me who tried to paint figurative and also dancing scenes I know haw difficult is to express feelings using brushstrokes

Do more artworks like this and you will become a figurative painter for sure.

Michael, Thank you so much for your time and know-how. I deeply appretiate it.  I painted it from my photo. In the photo there was no sky but walls. I imagened a sky. So I keep it as simple as possible so that it won't look artificial. Michael, you really know my small tricks. The grey sky make the more saturated objects stand out.  I do not like the yellow sand ground in the photo of the painting. The oraginal one is not this sick greenish yellow, much warm and pleasent.

Micheal, I painted this work for a charity exhibit. I hope that it will pass the qualification check by the art committe. Your encouragement  make me more confident. I will let you know the resoult in Aug. Again, Thank you very much for your professional help and your time to do so.

Your last sentence make me laughing... You are so cute like a little boy.

Great art Ningning!!!   I see you "fixed" the cloud over the hombre's head!! .. The sky relates much better.  I like how you made the shadows lighter and more transparent.   I love your gradation and directional lines taking us into the painting!   Great use of complimentary blues and oranges, Ningning! ...    You move us through your circular composition by your expert use of contrasts and line .. both physical and implied.  You have beautiful far visual music in the form of your complimentary contrasts and light and dark contrasts.  Your painting has great  visual poetry .. I feel the movement and emotion of the dance!  Great work, my friend!!!!  Cindy and I looking forward to winter so we can wear those beautiful sweaters!!!

Candi, I hope that you have time to read my message. I cancelled that photo as it was too small. This one is bigger size so that you can check the details.  Thank you, Candi. If you really want to watch this dance, you can go to Youtube and looking for Marinera Nortenia. You will get some vedios. Good luck!
