Good luck Stu.

Ernie, I'm a recovering detail addict and seeking simplification, so I will have to give the bigger brushes a good try. I still usually use a rigger but very loosely for some of the details; haven't broken that habit yet. Stu

Hey Stu, carefull not to use a big brush just because every one says so. Use the brush that is most suitable for the area you are painting consistent with your painting style. For the way I like to paint smaller brushes will not work at all. WHILE PICTUReS THAT ARE tighter (detailed) big brushes won't work. See ya Ernie.

Thanks Ernie. I need to use larger brushes. I too frequently use a #8 for most of the work on 9 by 12s and 11 by 14s but have just gotten a long flat-handled 1" bristle brush that keeps a nice, sharp edge; I'm still getting used to it. Stu

Hi Stu, I use mostly a no 10 for small paintings, also 8 and 12's. Sky area probably 12, I will grab no 8  occasionally. For any small detail like tel poles I'll use a no4. My brushes are synthetics that have similar properties

as a good bristle flat, but the synthetics keep a better edge.
