Thanks , Nancy. About that yellow pepper,you are so right,  it is floating due to not enough dark shadow beneath it. If I were you , I would put darker corlor just at the bottom of it to see what come out. Good luck.

My gosh, Li.  Thank you so much for your kind words.  That yellow pepper gave me fits.  I kept looking at it in the mirror to see what was wrong with it.  Finally, I realized that it wasn't going back in space and had to put more emphasis on the shadow.  There actually was a great deal of red on the shadow side, but I do see what you mean.  If I made it cooler, it would look even more like it is turning away.  After I posted it, I realized that it was floating due to not enough dark shadow beneath it.  The problem was that the back of the pepper lifted off of the table; however, I should have painted it as if it was completely resting on that table, and it would have read better.  Hindsight is always great, don't you think?  Thank you again, dear Li, for always being so kind and insightful.

Nancy, This painting is very difficult to paint well in terms of colour combination. You mentioned it too. But you did an excellent job. The red one is great, the yellow one is very interesting as it is influnce by the red, even though, I would make the shdow part of it cooler , less redish at the bottom side.  Again, I will never be able to paint peppers as beautiful as these two. Because, what you did shows that you mastered a lot of know-how about the colour which I need to learn. Nancy, to me , they are very high-tech and beautiful peppers.

Thank you, Walda. I realized that the yellow pepper was floating after uploading it. It was too late to fix, so I left it. There is just so much to think about when painting, isn't there? I appreciate your kind thoughts.

Thank you, Li. The broken color was a struggle. I kept redoing them. The question was to select two colors for the whole painting, or select colors for each pepper and also apply all four to the foreground and background. I wanted to use green and purple, but green is the complement of red, and purple is of yellow. Each would make a neutral. Oh well, decisions, decisions, decisions.......

I like them, Nancy! My only comment would be that the lower pepper seems not to be laying down. More deeper shadow? I'm not sure, but over all I like the broken color & brush strokes. I look at mine now & see all the brush strokes in the same direction & want to change it; well next time,hey?
