It was time to get out there and give it a shot. Thought I would start with a marsh since I live in a land marshes, marshes, marshes (did anyone else think of the Brady Bunch? Haha). At any rate....all helpful critiques are more than welcome. Thank you!

Linda, the overwhelming amount of information in the field was much more difficult, I thought. That's the reason I focused in on such a small area....trying it limit the information overload!

Julia, What a great job!  Nice colors and texture.  I bet you had fun painting the marsh land. Did you find it easy or difficult painting out doors?

Thank you Christine, Michael T. and Silvana.

And, what a wonderful compliment, Michael S!! I have spent every spare moment studying in one way or another. My house is in shambles but I do feel like I'm learning. :-) My husband cut some blocks for me and I've painted blocks and made color charts and made it a rule to only spend time looking at the kind of art that I would like to produce one day (it's easy to get sidetracked if not). I've also taken a couple of lunch hours each week and walked to local galleries. It helps to see things in person. You can't really study brush strokes online! The Reinert-LePrince gallery is easy walking distance and the Mary Martin Gallery represents Andre Kohn. Kohn's work is absolutely stunning in person! The trips to the galleries keeps the fire and drive and inspiration going. Thanks again for taking the time to be encouraging. It truly means a lot

Wonderful painting, Julia!  I know what you mean about painting outside - I felt exactly the same yesterday when I tried painting a sunset at the beach!  Feels like starting from scratch again!  But you've done a beautiful job here!

Thank you, Joy. Painting in the field is a whole different experience. Felt like everything I ever learned flew out the window for a while there. Lol!
