Phiuuuu! Thomas, I am so happy my comment did not upset you.You lifted a heavy weight from my shoulders because now, I can push my luck and add some "criticism" to it.

In this painting I like the roughness and business of the foregrounds with their broken colours and energetic brush strokes, but I expect all those " energetic brush strokes" to calm down gradually as they recede in the back ground. You did that with the forest and background hills... but the eye and mind expect that to happened a bit sooner like may be from around the middle of the painting and gradually.

By looking in your recent post "On the way to Sipapu!" I can see you managed that very successfully.

By the way, your painting may be wild - but you do paintings of wilderness so you are in tune with your subject-  , but they are good. I do not find them confusing, for me they show power, a strong understanding of your craft: colour, shape, composition, harmony in every each of them without fail.

They have a power in their message that takes the viewer into the scenery, wonted him/her to be part of it and explore.

With all being said I will stop my comments here. I think you had enough already. Cheers!

Hi Ana....I don't think you were critical...although...that can be a good thing...and be helpful....I probably was writing that more for folks that wonder .....why my work...my paintings are the way they are...They may seem wild and confused to some.....So I was using your remarks...as an opportunity to explain....But I do welcome ...good and ...critical comments.....Thanks Very Much Ana........ps...I know you like and comment often on my paintings....!!!!!!

Thomas, HI! My comment may come across like a criticism, but actually, I really love your work. It is so powerful and shows a high level of artistic maturity. I also do understand that a painting should be seen from a reasonable distance to catch its beauty. I do spent a fair amount of time actually looking at your paintings, the way you are so free in your movement and so articulate and confident in your brush strokes. I am looking forward to see more of your work. Cheers!

Hi Anna......So let me talk about , how I view...painting .....and this painting......This piece is 18x24...and if it were hanging on a wall....It would be viewed from a distance......So,,,at first glance, one would be impacted,,,from a distance...like a thumbnail......Then..as the viewer got closer...they would find a painting filled with brushwork....shapes and textures....and they would wonder...and they would again step back...and the scene would reappear.....Anyway...Thank You for commenting on this piece!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is absolutely a delight from the thumbnail.  Close up it's a bit too rough (for my test that is) but again those strong and energetic lines define the beauty of the painting. Never the less, I love your brush strokes they are never astray.
