oil on linen panel, 8" by 10", plein air My favorite place to paint and to take visiting plein air painters to paint. It's at China Camp State Park on SF Bay. This is high tide. This painting goes with me tomorrow to Wisconsin as a gift to friends that I am staying with before my plein air festival in Mineral Point starts in 4 days.

Thanks Thomas!!  I feel like I am approaching advanced stages in life some days!  Art, I am not so sure about, because I keep learning new things all the time!!  But I have painted in oils and acrylics for a long time, so it is about time I lost my fear of watercolors!!

Great story of what's to come Stu!
I remember reading in the vaa material that one should better start with watercolors only at fairly advanced stages. It's really about time for you to start :-) good luck and happy painting on your travel!

Thanks Thomas!!  I'm also getting some plein air watercolor lessons from my friend while I am there.  I have painted in watercolors periodically over the years but never plein air, and she teaches plein air watercolor workshops.  She wants to start painting plein air in oils, so its kind of an instruction swap, but I am really excited about it because I want to start doing watercolor sketches when I travel.  It's really hard lugging around all the stuff for oils, especially if you are on the move!!  I will paint in oils in the plein air festival.
