Hi Julie.  Great painting!!! ...I think your photo shows the water a darker color because it is actually reflecting the sky ABOVE which is a darker, blueish color?  I love the softness of your sky and the luminosity through the trees....wonderful!!  Your tree on the left balances the right side nicely ..I also like the hint of warm in that tree!!  I really love your impasto rim lighting!!! ..I tried to get that effect on my painting, but failed miserably!!!   BTW, I think if you gradated your water starting at the light reflection .adding yellow, orange, reddish, and then violet/blue at the left edge, it would relate to the painting better?  Your bright light reflection goes into that dark orange color much too fast ..just gradate with the next colors on the wheel.  One more thing, diminish that strong line across the water by reflecting the dark bank into the water ...avoiding a straight line and giving more depth and interest to that area.

Thank you for your kind comments.  I know that the sky colours are usually reflected in the water, but in this case I've probably followed my photo reference too closely, which has the water as quite a bit darker than the sky (don't know why!)  Maybe I should go back in to lighten it?  Ann, it was intended to be finished.  I have quite a loose style, so it can often look unfinished for some tastes though, as per the comment above, I may have to re-think the water.

Julie the use of color caught my eye. Would you like some suggestions or is it finished ?
