Oh gosh Michael I wish I had had such beautiful poetic thoughts about what I wanted to achieve with this painting and Thank you for your kind words. But if the truth be known it just evolved. We are very fortunate on this site to have one as talented as you to give so much of your time to critique on our work.

Hi Diane.  There is something about your painting that is emotionally pleasing to me ...I cannot describe exactly why.  Yes, it borders on 2 paintings, as Fay commented, and that is because you painted the mountains and the Tui with equal greatness ...but that works for me!! ....I think you have set up a wonderful contrast between the rugged, everlasting mountains, and the delicate, fleeting flow of life.  You have broken 2 "rules" rather nicely.  The twig comes out in the middle of the picture ..BUT ..to me, it reinforces the delicate balance of Nature and Life.  "Rules" can be broken everyone!! ...this painting is a great example.  Anyway, I wish I could explain it better, but I am not a poet. :))

No problem Thomas. This is such a great site to post our paintings for people to take an intrest and give us great feed back. I love  all comments and yours, are not at all  critical, just how you see it. Makes us think about what we will create next. Thanks.

Diana, happy about the way you deal with my critical comment on such a beautiful piece. The looseness in your landscape is something i absolutely love and hope to accomplish some day. Looking forward to your future works!

This is lovely Diane.  The mountains are beautifully painted and also the tui on the kowhai branch.  They could easily become two separate paintings if you wished, but as it stands bringing together a few things Kiwi certainly tells a story.

Fair comment Thomas I agree. The landscape turned out quite well. However my imagination was running a bit wild that day and I wanted a background to hang the Tui in!!! You know sometings work and some don't but fun painting them all.

The landscape in the background is fantastic. The bird in the foreground is painted well. For my taste these two don't go together very well. This mountain scene is so beautiful that i would like to take a few steps forward into the painting and enjoy it with nothing in front.

Just bringing a few things Kiwi together Jon. Topography, forna, and flora. I thought the colours worked.
