Oil on canvas panel 11" by 14". plein air, painted at Bullhead Flat at China Camp State Beach Park between 4:00 and 5:30 PM. Tide was in and late aftrernoon color and shadows were there. Compare this with the on easel shot posted yesterday. Only change is signed in cad red light and a couple of sparkles of this color throughout the painting to unify it. No real studio changes.

Beautifully painted! I really like the trees with the interesting shapes, trunks & tree holes showing the sky.
So very proud to know you Dr. Gourlay! You did this in an hour and a half! Congratulations.
Lots of smiles coming your way ;-)
Stu, I think this is a great painting. I would leave this one alone. You can always go back to paint another one for study.
Hi Stu, the first thing that grabs me when I see your painting is the interesting contrast between the glowing smooth water and the texture and brushwork of the grass. The perspective of the shore moving back is very well done to the dark finger of land in the shadow. Love the red you have added to give a little punch to all those greyed greens. This has more color and variety of color then some of your other paintings. A little touch of warm light on the bluff would give us a more gratifying focal. Your painting style is peaceful and calming because of the soft greys. I like it, its the way that you see the world and its a nice way to see things.
Like the water!
Very strong compostion Stu! Michael made a very good point.
