Recently I posted a snapshot of a scene in Williams, AZ I wanted to paint. I appreciated the feedback. This is what I have come up with so far. I want to try it again someday after I hear from some of you. Copying a painting is one thing. But attempting to do an original is a different story! I started this painting plein air and finished it when we arrived home. 9 X 12 oil

I did one of it - bit of a disaster - I'm on the second version now - much harder than it looks! (ain't that wlaways the case ;( ?)
Its quite an interpretation of the reference!! (well done) - Richard (the expert at that) would be pleased, I reckon
Linda, you are a busy girl! I like this one very much!
Linda, you are really improving on your color mixing!! ..you have some nice warm/cool things going on in the distance. You have created a nice value recession from front to back. I love the design of your sky. The tree is your focal point, so your darkest dark and lightest light should be there. You have your darkest dark there, but your lightest light is off to the right. So, just bring that bright puppy over to the left, next to the dark tree and then tone down the other side!! ...A nice shaft of light coming in from behind the tree ..you will need to break into your red bushes a little. Oh, and I see that you left a gap so we can go back into the painting!! ..excellent. BTW, I like the way you painted the forest and not the trees. :))
