Hazel, I never paint pastel but I like this painting. A lot of color variation involved in a subtle way. Like a  peaceful dream. Do you know how to use Picasa or photo shop?  You can temperally change your painting colour to white and black  to check your value. I think your value differences a not very obvious. And the shadows can be more obvious too.

Thanks Dorian. I started this using the original 4 colours plus black & white I had available, then my new set of 40 panpastels arrived so I had a bit more scope for the finishing touches as well as more tools to work with. I am enjoying using these pastels. Can't wait to try them on a landscape.
