Painting Ruakaka Estuary

Had fun painting this tonight as the sun went down and Helen was out fishing with Luke. Having a little trouble getting the Holbein Duo Aqua water mixable oils to stick to the canvas properly. Perhaps I'll stain a few canvases first and see how that goes. A local came over to chat and was very enthusiastic about my painting so I gave it to him in the end. Loved the design of this with the big simple shapes and strong colour but I was hoping for a bit more expressive paint texture. Should have used the credit card trick or more palette knife. This is just practice for the next painting though right? The kids always have a lot of fun at this spot. Me too.
