Thank you, Carolyn, for the friend request. Lately, I have been in and out of the workshop due to my life getting in the way, but I try to do the monthly challenge. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes not. I am struggling to get this months painting done on time. Wish me luck.
Your florals are gorgeous. Is that your favorite subject to paint?
Hi Carolyn, Just letting you know that I'm thinking of you and how disappointed you must feel in missing out on being part of this project. Do reconsider it even though you are undoubedly very busy getting ready for house changes, as when you actually start on the slice, it doesn't take as long as you might think.
Anyway, I hope all is well with you considering all that has been happening in your life this year.
I joined the February workshop and I have a question for you. When I joined there was no payment request. Is this normal? Does Richard keep your initial payment info and just charge you automatically?
Thank you for the lovely Christmas Card/wishes. Merry Christmas back. May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ grant you peace and joy this Christmas and in the coming year. Love Roena
Well, I can't do a plein air painting at this moment. Dad has my french easel and I am only set up to paint indoors at this moment. I may have to wait till next month or paint his photo. Haven't made my mind up.
I just loaded these few this morning. This particular subject I have painted twice, both in watercolor. This one is on paper and the other is on watercolor canvas and from a different perspective. I will try to get around to adding descriptions later today. The seascape is the only recent one.
I have 4 small oils going at present.
I have an fine art degree from Mississippi College with the primary focus on watercolors, though I mostly oil paint now. I formally worked as illustrator in the 80's in Houston and later worked as an associate with a graphic design firm in Atlanta.
Did the colors look okay in the photos? I think my monitor needs adjusting as the colors seems a little off from Photoshop to the webpage.
thank you Carolyn.......I would be very pleased and honoured to be your friend. This is such an awesome group.I am enjoying the C A so very much and my painting has come along way, and I am doing more. It is great to see what others in the group are doing, and we learn so much from each other even though we are oceans apart; the world is such a small place after all.......Dorothy
It is the outlaws in the family that make genealogy interesting. I had one ancestor that sailed with Captain Kidd!
If you don't mind telling me, what was your mom's Mississippi grandfather's name? I have a good bit of Scot-Irish in my lines also.
On a painting note I worked on two small oils this weekend. I also helped my wife with a craft project. Mary Ann, my wife, is a very talented craft person. Did you get to paint any this weekend?
Sorry that I missed your instant message. I am hard of hearing and cannot hear most high pitched sounds. Not helped by the background music that I play while painting.
I will try to find time this afternoon to sign up for workshop 28. Sounds like fun.
While I come from a line of Richards that go back the the 1600's in Cornwall, I go by Michael. My Dad is Richard. LOL By the way I do genealogy, do you? Since you are from Hinds County I was just thinking that we could possible have a family connection.
Thanks for the very thorough answer. I am very interested in doing a workshop myself. A good reason alone is that it will give me motivation to paint more often. I was just a little concern about time investment.
When does one sign up for the December Workshop?
By the way, I have pulled out an old unfinished painting and am finishing it up this morning.

I have a Grand Canyon oil that I will post (if I have a scan of it).

Happy Holiday to you also.
My Irish descent great-grandfather's name was Alonzo Lewis Stevens. Go figure.

Thanks for the encouragement.
My wife is really wanting me to take a workshop. Generally, how much time is invested in a workshop (in hours)?
Thanks
