Hello Joseph, sorry I took so long to respond, I am happy to be your friend. I'm very close to going full time at my painting as I'm trying hard to figure out how to swing early retirement from working for other people and one difficult person in particular. I'm enjoying painting more as my work has dropped off quite drastically this past year and it's the first time I've been able to spend daily time at my easel. I've managed to keep my practice going throughout my working career but it's not really enough time to get where I want to be with it. I've just finished a dog portrait commission and started a new one and just got my first portrait to do a friends wife's picture today, so things are picking up. That's kind of scary and exciting as I've never done a person before. Good Luck to me.
Thanks for being friends, Joe, we all need fellow artists. I saw your work, love it, you are not afraid of colors and texture. I love that part also. Marilyn Bonnett
Joe, thank you for your compliments. I am quite pleased to be your friend. Thank you for your service to our country. I spent 5 years as a reservist and 5 years on active duty during Viet Nam and did medical research in two US Army medical research laboratories. I am a general surgeon, still practicing, and my son is an academic pediatric and trauma surgeon and also a US Army reservist; he has served in Kosovo, Iraq and will deploy to Afghanistan this February to care for the men and women defending this country. I do like your abstract work and hope to see more of it. Stu
Your works are nice. People naturally like them. Congradulations! Thank you so much, Joseph. Very good advice! I will try it when I go to sell my paintings. My case is that I never try to sell as I do not think my work is good enough to be an art. But now I have more than 20 pieces there. They occupied space. And my husband want to show people that his wife can paint. He registered me to join an exhibition next year in May. It will be my first attemptation tp sell my works to support my family a bit. I will remember what you teach me. Thank you again.
Thanks Mr Byrd, you are my first friend. I see you would like a gallery showing. You may fnd this site of interest. This is a site strictly for artists. When I uoload a new piece it goes out to about 25,000 people. Plus a free entry art contest once a month. I do not make a dime from this but too good not to share. http://faso.com/?ref=fav
Thank you for sharing your opinion,You inspire me! I've never had a single exhibition with other artists nor sold a single painting of mine. My total works are merely around 30 piecies. A beginner in fact. And I do not have a lot of time to paint. I am happy about my progress as I try to compare only with myself. Happy painting as Richard always says to us!
Joseph, I am busy working on my workshop4 and have a lot of problems. But I am happy as I know that I am making a progress. Be myself work hard and learn hard then I would be a happy painter. To be gifted is a word include a lot of qualities of a person. I try to be better but I also know my limitation. We all are gifted to be developed. Your abstract paintings showed here are fantastic though I don't understand them . They are powerfully beautiful in patten, shape and color and relationship among those colors. Happy for you.
Joseph, thank you for your nice comment. Let's help each other with other artists. I like this workshop as there are many sincere and kind brains. Waiting for you to join us for next workshop.
Joseph, happy to be one of your friends. A few more words about me, before I become Richard's student, I did not have a teacher. I started to learn drawing in 2005 and then oil painting. But this only continued for more than one year. I stopped it as in Peru some painters like to teach interested more in collecting money than their students improvement, Very frustrated. I turned to folk dance for 3 years and won the competation several times. Then burned out. 2years later in this year, I found Richard's class from internet. My husband encouraged me joinned in his class. I bought his books and dvds(by downloard). I studied his teaching carefully and practised them. Within 7month, my painting become much more interesting. As I did not paint a lot, every painting for me is a big challenge. Painting is intense work for me. So lets help each other and have a fun while improving our paintings.
