Hi! My name is Robin. I have been dabbling in watercolor painting since 2005" when I needed to find a hobby after giving up my graphic and web design business after my first heart attack and
took lessons online from Andy Walker's Learn To Do site. I quickly learned to love the unpredictable nature of watercolor. I have done a few works in acrylic and water soluble oils, but always come back to my first love, watercolor.
I hope to find some therapeutic value in my painting now. I had given up hope that I would ever paint again after spending the past four months in the hospital with respiratory and kidney failure. This leftover three fingers on each hand weak and unusable, but I finally figured out that I only need a thumb and one finger to use a brush. :)
I think this experience will help me reach a painting goal of loosening up, not being so detailed in my work. My favorite subjects to paint are flowers. I spend the spring and summer growing and photographing them, and the fall and winter painting them. I'll have to rely on past yearsl' gardens this year, though.
I also create digital art on my computer where I developed a method drawing the subjects with Adobe Illustrator and painting them using Photoshop. Some years ago, I co-authored a book, "Creating Paint
Shop Pro Web Graphics". In the years since, I have learned so much more, and hope to share that via blog, web site, or possibly even an eBook.
In the meantime I hope to get to know some of you and learn along with you.
