Hello All...I am brand new to acrylics, am full of questions and hopefully won't test your patience too much! I have been cruising the caribbean for six years aboard our catamaran and needless to say have an endless supply of panaramas to choose from. I have a terrible addiction, I want to draw and paint everything and everyone I see. (makes for some funny looking people) Now..all I have to do is learn to paint! Comments & suggestions are all welcome..whether good, bad, or indifferent..let it fly. It all helps.

Cheers, Val

HI Val - good for you! The thing I've found  with acrylics is that they dry darker than when you put them on - it's hard to mix the same colour twice - so a couple of times I've had to re-do almost the whole painting just to touch something up. However - I like the way they don't smell, are water cleanup, and dry quickly - so you can do layer on layer if you want to. Good for travel too. Best way to learn to paint is to paint! And don't worry if the result is 'good' or not! Have fun!

Hi Val, welcome to the site. I see you lived on a boat. I guess that is why you have a great tan. I spent 2 weeks on the Lammer Law in the Caribbean around Tortola, Salt Island, Virgin Gorda. And, many weeks in Grand Cayman. I am a painter also, Oils. I am new here also. I hope the site continues to grow. I love being able to take lessons online. Welcome.

Marilyn

Hallo Caribbean girl.  I am also from the Caribbean. From Curacao.

With tropical regards,

A

Hello Arthur, I loved Curacao and Bonaire. We spent about 4 months in Curacao a few years ago. I hope to get back there at some point. We are currently located in Rio Dulce Guatemala. The Caribbean is such a magical place.
