How to photograph the Slice/Painting

Hi Richard

I'm really excited about starting to paint the group painting but.. Can you please explain how to photograph the slice/painting for the group project. I have no idea how to get 2000px to 4000px. I have a Fujifilm Finepix XP10 series camera (small digital)
