Even though I sold a painting last week, I am having trouble maintaining focus and being inspired to paint lately.  There are so many really good artists - does the world need me?

Has anyone else had this problem?  (I'm betting yes?)  and most importantly, how can I handle it?

THANKS,
Holly

I have had this problem for 2 years now.  I just cannot shake it off.  I pick up a brush, get started, something goes wrong and it is in to file 13.  A few months later I do the same again.  Like you say I find the fact that there are so many brilliant artists (like Richard)  just intimidates me.  I used to enjoy painting, now I just cannot get back to it.  Help!

I like to research subjects and get a lot of satisfaction from that, just waiting for the urge to paint to return, which it will if I give it time.  This is not the first time I have had this problem, it is quite common.
