Hello there. My name is Max Sibelius Trip (Dutch), from Australia. Yes, I am a new to this Forum.

In 1997 I joined an Art Society and had a few lessons in different mediums, had no idea which to prefer.

Cut a long story, I got stuck with Pastels for their ease of, simultaneous drawing and painting and luminosity of  colours. To tell you the truth, oils were a lot of bother, turps, cleaning brushes and colour mixing, say the least. Acrylics, too quick drying and w/colours, well never dared to try, although, my wife, Isobel does w/colours and lovely work. Pastels on the other hand,'like a duck to water'.

For a while, however, I have been thinking of getting ' out my square' and try another medium, although Pastel is my preferred one. Since I got onto the Water Soluble OiL, well, why not !

So here I am and yes with a little help of RR. Till next time.

Lorri ,a beautiful painting and well done. I am a bit stuck with my oil challenge, I think it is the colour mixing and applying it wet on wet. Looking at RR's painting demo's again and again for inspiration, want to master it ! Personally, I find Pastels easier, ofcourse all the colours are basically there, a breeze, is'nt it. Regards.
hi I am Terry, I have been doing a similar thing, and use to do oils and acrylics, I find that I can take the pastel paintings and then put them in oil or acrylic, it keeps the painting so fresh using the vivid pastel colour drawings as a working painting ?
Hi Terry, what a great idea. I have to try that method it may improve my Oils, although I am at a standstill at the moment, just can't find the inspiration ! Cheers.
