I have a small question bout the Gamut mask.
Is there any way to rotate the currently available masks? I know you can make a freeform, but it's difficult to get it right.
Other wise, I'm incredibly happy with the online GM tool :D I just read about it in Gurneys book not 3 weeks before I encountered your lessons, so it was a very pleasant surprise for me.
I am a fan of the dvds of the late Helen Van Wyk and some of her books. I particularly like her advice on painting highlights: make it, break it, and paint it again.
As I type this I am taking a pause from watching the lesson on Mount Mania and I'm all set to get going. I quite like the way you lay out the paint families. I've never approached it that way before and I suspect this is going to be a big 'aha' moment for me.
Cheers
Bev
Yes you can drag the edge of the color wheel around, which has the same effect as rotating the mask.

I purchased all three of Quang Ho's DVD's this past spring and found them to be truly amazing. The "Nuts and Bolts" DVD is chuck full of information (no pun intended) and to watch the "Still Life" and the "Figure in the Interior" evolve before your eyes was so fascinating for me. I have since tried using the angled Lange Nickel brush he uses and have found it helpful. I still need to play with it some more to get anywhere near proficient as he is with it, but as he he says it is fun to use. I learned about him from Tim Deibler who is also a professional artist from Colorado. Quang Ho is definately high on my list of favorites.
Really been liking Liz Wiltzen's approach, especially to the 100 plein airs in a hundred days project.
Thanks Dirk, I've just subscribed to her blog.
Liz is a plein air painting buddy of mine and she is a super nice girl and a wonderful painter. She is beginning to do more international teaching (last year it was in Hawaii) so maybe you will be able to learn from her in a workshop some time.
Nice. I was thinking of doing a workshop in Hawaii in the next couple of years - love it there.

I wasn't suggesting that YOU should take her workshop Richard!!
:-) No I'd love to actually - she's a great painter. I don't get to do that sort of thing over here.
