I am hoping to start a small painting group soon to help a few friends to learn about acrylics. I am an amateur painter and enjoy using acylics. Any ideas to get me started with the group would be very helpful to me. Thanks

Hi Catherine, this is something I'm very excited by - the challenge to get out of your comfy studio and quiet seclusion and just BE painting with others. I can't help but always think of how many of the impressionists painted together and how that simple act kept them going, inspired and improved their painting beyond what they would have achieved alone. It's the primary reason I started teaching, and started this web group, being that like minded painters are in very short supply in my area. I don't know that I have any advice to give about it, only encouragement, and a little envy.
All the best with it,
Richard.
Hi, Richard. Thanks for the encouragement re starting a group. I started with two other friends on Friday . We did a poppy picture as it was the first time they had used acrylics. It went very well and we got a lot of pleasure just discussing what we were looking for and how to achieve the right effect. Several other friends are hoping to join us but space is the problem. Reading your advice on acrylic painting has given me the courage to take the plunge.I know we will get a lot of pleasure and social contact from this and I would like to thank you for all your tips and encouragement. Rena
Glad to hear it Rena - sounds like it'll be a lot of fun - usually the more the merrier.
Enjoy!
R.
