Hi,
Thanks to Richard's hands on approach and no nonsense DVD's I elevated myself off my rear end and took my old enemy on, yet again, namely values and chroma and, provided I remain disciplined I now feel confident.
An older artist friend of many decades of endeavor said to me once when I was having a gripe, "Yes, I was frightened of that stark canvas but now, it's frightened of me."

A simple device that has helped me to assess values and chroma.
Get two pieces of Neutral Linear Polariser HN 38*0.3mm which is a polaroid product.
If you place them one behind the other and rotate one then you get a visual effect from full to total blackout. The advantage of this is that it will show that what seems higher chroma and higher value is , as Richard explains, not so...... worth a try and the only problem is locating the Polariser without purchasing full sheets.
Hope this is of some help...regards.... Garth

Nice idea Garth - thanks for that.
Sounds interesting but where do you get this stuff from?
