If this is your first attempt, it is looking good. I have never worked with pastels so I can not help you in that. I did some people a zillion years ago, and (working in oils) the book that I was reading to help me along by Helen Van Wyk suggested putting some greenish on the edge of the chin/jawline to "help it turn under". I took a prisma colored pencil portrait class once, and did one drawing in class but never did much after that. I know what features are susposed to look like from that class. I recently went through the exercises in the book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain up to the section she started doing people. My goal is to become a color-landscape artist. Man, it is so easy to get to going down a different road that leads away from your goal. It is a good book and I learned a lot. /// Right now, I have started Richard's color course and am doing the exercises - back to the basics of judging color as a value - I am painting cubes and other objects. I am really trying hard to learn this! It is not easy for me as I tend to guess the value wrong and only see it after I have finished the painting. Then I have to adjust. sob sob he he Ro

Very good study. You are catching the light and shadow well. Could you put the size and the medium please. Ro
