Thanks Kim.  Yupo is synthetic, very smooth and glossy.  It's a challenge to paint on, but if you don't like what you've done you can take a wet paper towel and wipe it all off, and start over again.  And with watercolors it's very easy to lift out color.  I'm still getting used to working on it, but the more I use it, the more I love it.  Using pan pastels on it was wonderful!
