I am much more impressed with your and Sargent's painting than I am with mine. I should try the palette again someday in hopes I get better results like you did. Ro

You captured alot of subtlety in the color changes as well as some optical mixing. It really is quite amazing to see what you can get from less.

john singer sargent........look up his painting "horses at palma" I found it on images.google.com
I think he used the same colors on that one. His sure has a lot of interest and debth.

I tried that combination as well. I could not find a photo of the finished painting, but the notation under the painting said "almost finished". Not sure I knew what do do, but here is my attempt. It is another of my canyon series of Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado.

I only used white yellow ochre cad red and ivory black. I did this one on location here in Michigan

Gregory, this is so good! I love the atmosphere, and I like the lights and shadows. Very nice composition with the features leading the eye throughout the painting. Excellent. 5***** Ro
