Tammy, I just love painting negative space. You do a lot of that in porcelain painting which I have done for years...so, I really need to loosen up frequently. I tend to be too tight for my own good! I told my daughter that my technique should be called lost and found. I lose what I am painting and then need to refine it or just plain FIND it. :) I usually hit a wall and want to quit and usually I don't have to paint over the canvas if I can push thru.

Thanks so much Deb.  I'm not sure if I can use this with my rocks but I might try it and also try a tree or two.  I REALLY like it and also really appreciate you sharing your technique.  It is to nice to learn and try new ideas.  Did you discover this on your own?

Nice! This makes me think of winter (I'm a snow bunny so that's a good thing in my book)!!

Thx, Tammy. Frist of all this is acrylic and very wet. Must be laid flat on plastic and kept wet with a spay of water now and then. I do some vertical running too. Then when I think I have a nice background, I build in the tree branches that take paths on their own a bit because of the wetness. After that is completely dry, I begin to cut out the shapes with a contrasting color. Can't wait to do the next one. Try it, it's freeing but I still have to be careful I am not too detailed with the negative painting. Will be looking for your try at it.

Wow!  What a great effect!  How did you do this?  I would like to try something like this with my rock paintings.

Thx so much. Think I will do more of this with variations!
