365 Paintings in 365 Days #52
"Self Portrait with Umbrella"
12x24 inches. Oil on canvas.
Learning Points?
When I was little, if I didn't have chalk for the sidewalk to swirl my fingers in...or finger paints...or even glue, and paper...I would find what I could...every day to paint with...even dirt on the ground. I loved feeling my hands smoosh around and make pretty designs...I miss that feeling sometimes.
As I spend each day painting as if I am at University, I struggle with my creativity. I need to learn the basics before I feel I can move on to more creative adventures. But, sometimes, like today, I need to break free and just paint what I feel. Painting every day, or as much as I possibly can is needed for me like air and water. It "protects" me from life's negative elements. So, I hope you don't mind if just for this moment...I share...and just paint without thinking, without learning...without researching....without reading...without studying...without worrying...about color, and composition, and light, and dark...and all of those grown up important art things...and just create only what I feel. So with paint and brush and fingers to canvas...this is me. Hello :)
