Cascades d' Ouzoud
16x20 inches. Oil on Canvas.

Learning Points:

1. Water vapor/mist. For the water mist, I did not layer it over the surrounding color, I decided on the color of the mist and painted it that color and then blended a little around it to pull in the surrounding color.
2. Hard and soft edges. There is a lot of soft edges here. Even the hard edges of the sides of the waterfalls are softly blended to give them more movement. The high contrast gives it the hard edges instead.
3. Flowing water. I have discovered that if I blend the lighter color of the water into the darker water color, it gives the impression layers. It makes the water have depth.
4. Broken color. I did use broken color in the shadows and highlights of the rocks. In the shadows is a black I mixed from burnt umber and pursian blue, then pure burnt umber, and a blue I mixed from cobalt blue and a smidgen of lemon yellow. In the lighter colors of the rocks are several colors; even pink.
