Loaned an australian instructional dvd, installed a fluorescent daylight bulb, found my filbert no. 12 and am now ready for some heavy artwork :)

I just watched that DVD yesterday.  Warwick Fuller's brushwork is amazing - close up it looks so loose but it tricks the eye into seeing all sorts of details.  I might have a go at this scene, too.  You've done a really good job with the colours here.  Maybe the foreground is a bit too pink.  I saw a WF exhibition recently - almost everything was sold, and for big prices.  He's been painting for about 35 years, I'm told - self taught. There is hope.  Unfortunately I don't have 35 years to learn the trade.
