I enjoyed doing the leaves with a pallet knife here, but have since come to realize that the coloring could be much more interesting.

Thanks Betsy...and yes, Juneau is a gorgeous place. there is inspiration for painting everywhere!
These are big Belgian draft horses. Thanks for you comments.
Very nice picture, Christine. I live in Virginia Hunt Country--there are a lot of horse people around me. There is even an equestrian artist group in the state. They target the (many) horse-lovers market. I have been thinking of doing an equestrian picture myself--just to see how it would go. I could challenge myself to study horse anatomy!
I like the mood of this picture. I feel the quiet of the end of the day and the relief of going home to rest after hard work. The horses remind me of work/ draught horses, although I am NO horse expert.
As to your comment about additional coloring: I tend to think in complements. If you do another one, you have a lot of greens (at least on my monitor), so perhaps adding some reds somewhere? And maybe blue-lavender down the distance and then add in some yellows in the foreground? I am not sure HOW you should do all this. It's just how I think. This is a nice pic with a lot of emotion, and emotion is what we all respond to.
PS I spent 1 week in Juneau a few years ago. Loved it! I had a blast fishing, seeing glaciers, seeing wildlife (Salmon Creek was amazing in July!) and enjoying the Orthodox Christian religious sites. (I am Orthodox).
