saghi, thank you for your wonderful comments and the welcome. Sorry its taken me a bit to respond, but finally here to let you know I appreciate your encouragement! I'm enjoying my re-entry into art amid a pretty distracting life at the moment.
Again Maisie, thank you! As to the "After Velasquez" when I upload (quickly) some past work I didn't notice the new album was naming everything "after Velasquez". Since you asked I thought it was time to get back here and figure out how to correct the errors. (After Velasquez, simply means my original painting is based on Diego's painting Virgin and Her Mirror; which goes by many names!) ;)
another beauty.. but what does ..After Velasquez.. refer to?
Ah yes, color...my excitement and my frustration. Haven't had the time yet to look at your work or anyone else's yet, but I would be willing to bet that you love color also, which of course, indicates we both love the way light interacts with our chosen subject. Part of my draw to Master's work was the chiaroscuro factor. So here we have value/contrast, color/hue, and chroma/intensity. See, I'm starting to put it together lol! Thanks again.
Thank you Dorian, for the welcome and very kind words for this stagnant artist's ego. Actually I'm not too accomplished, haven't sold a thing and really struggle with color and I LOVE color. In serious color theory study at the moment to remedy that. Richard's "Mastering Color" is such a great compilation of the many random facts I've come across, and as you know, his presentations are so easy to "get". Oh to be intuitive and I will be, soon, yep!
Look at all those rich colors in and around muted colors.. beautiful
Welcome Carolyn I see your are an accomplished artist! Looking forward to see more of your work.........smiles to you : ))
