I know what you mean Jon.. im still playing around with color. Im on the internet gathering information in regards to color and color theory. I lacked some warm colors in mine too. Now that we know that..let's keep going.l
Thanks Ningning and Montalvo for making detailed comments - that's extremely helpful. I'm most annoyed with the composition, then the lack of warmth in the greens. I do like the sky - skies are important!
Love that sky. The strokes give it feeling of expansion. The little bushes and shadows are nice. I had a hard time with the trees. and bushes. I agree with Ningning in regards to toning the yellow.I always learn a new way that i can add color or cool down by what others are posting. The mountain in the back is a good example..i did mine green..you..added some light blue which is nice. I need to keep that in mind. Thank you for posting Jon
Jon, both your warm and cool versiones are both nice. Definetly you handled the big brush strokes very well. The colours, values and depth are acurate. The interesting is the sky. As you use the colour change to make the ocean water moving, you use brush strokes to make the sky alive. I will try your way in my future job. By the way, the yellow colour come through from the trees at the right down corner can be grey down a bit as those trigs and leaves stop them to be singning too loud. Maybe you are consider thery are in the near distance. I should not be too picky to you as I painted my W20 like that exaggerated.
Thanks, Barbara. I've got two more versions of it on the go!
Very Pretty.
