Another scene from the maze of ancient streets in the old city of Jerusalem - these ladies appeared to be on their way home after a little shopping in the market.

Thank you Jon for your comment!  Hmmmm....wondering about the light structure - it would be inventing something that wasn't there, but that's what the present workshop is all about anyway! In the photo, everything is in the shade and almost the same tone, except for the back wall and I already took some liberty with the light, but maybe not enough! Perhaps darkening the wall on the left (above my signature) would help and adding some more light on the steps where the ladies are walking, along with cast shadows, as Carolyn suggested.

Well, it's a nice subject and I could be wrong, Jessica, but I feel I would like more to see a little more contrast - a slightly stronger light structure - but that could well be just my personal preferences?! - or agreeing with what Carolyn says? ....

Thank you so much, Richard, Carolyn & Cristina for your lovely comments!  Carolyn - thanks for taking the time & for all you pointed out about the light & shadow.  I was just checking my photo reference & the arches/roof are actually creating shade everywhere, except for on the facing wall.  It is unusual architecture! The steps are also in the shade, with a little extra light where the women are walking, but there were no cast shadows.   I exaggerated the light on the steps & I guess I overdid it, which your sharp eye caught!  Your point about the blue doors is also very good - I should probably lighten the one in the sun a bit more.

Great composition, Jessica. You are taking on some complicated subjects on your journey. Harmonious colors too. What it might need, is some variation in chroma as  you go from the walls in shade. The golden arches and blue doors are almost the same..as though they are catching the same amount of light. Underside of the gold arch, same as the wall facing us. Wonderful rending on those stone? steps, are the arches above casting shadows on them? Are the women casting shadows? Not sure if the light is coming from above, that would give the direction of those defining shadows. Really enjoy what you are doing in your paintings right now!

Very enjoyable.  At first glance it reminded me of one that I did back in college (long since lost I am sure).
