THE ARCTIC TERN.( FOOD FIGHT).
This little fellow is a bird that I have a lot of experience with, I was born and grew up on the east coast of Canada, my bedroom window looked out on the atlantic ocean and these birds woke me every morning,. our house was built on a little peninsula that literally touched the ocean, I was lulled to sleep every night by the sounds of the sea pounding the rocks. The backyard made of lungers, (logs forming piers, that were utilized as a back yard), which at high tide were completely immersed in the waters of the atlantic, I could if i needed to actually fish out of my bedroom window!!. no I am not kidding!! anyway I always loved these little fellows and was so impressed with how they could dive from hovering over the wild waters of the atlantic and regain the ability of flight with a fish in their bills!!, so i miss this , wish I had never grown up and was there still, with this beauty to enjoy each and every day. Forgive me for the rant, but sweet memories are hard to compress!!. To explain the canvas........ this was done on a 30x30 canvas, the under painting was done using acrylics, I was having fun experimenting, so I decided to do the background using only my fingers covered in latex gloves, never dreaming that it would end up this way. my wife and son watched me splashing around and after the movie that they were enjoying, was over they came to see my work and could see what I was doing with my fingers,:), to cut a what could be an extra long story short , this is what became of the night, I hope that I have not spoiled the fact that I wanted to maybe give an example through art of how incredibly beautiful my childhood home is!!
