Oil painting, 11" x 14", Flemish Technique of layers, Photo taken near Grand Junction, CO. Radiating line composition with some "S" influence. Tertiary color scheme using the Munsell Color System of yellow-red, red-purple, blue-purple, blue-green, yellow-green. This was my first attempt at a "tonal composition" and I was attempting for mostly dark, some medium, and a little light values". I dont think I actually pulled it off, but it was very interesting trying to take "normal photograph" and completely change every value in it. Much thanks goes to Terry Clare for his information found in his book "Burning the Midnight Oil", and for his guidance and suggestions.

Lovely painting Roena..
glad you are back Rowena, I love your painting, I also love the orrig. photo and think it would make a fantastic watercolour, the light just glows.

Very interesting experiment Ro, is this the first time you've the Flemish technique on a landscape?
I think you got a great 3D effect around the rock area but maybe lost the depth somehow down the lh side.
It has a very strange atmosphere, I almost expect fairies or goblins to pop up. LOL
I'm so glad to see you back Roana, I wrote you a coupld of emails but never heard from you.
Looks like to don't need much practicing to me. Excellent job.
