Thanks, Britt. Yeah, but when you look at some artists' work and see the power of subtlely... ...hmm...just now I'm getting hung up on paint application/brushwork - there's always fun to be had ;( !!!!
Jon, I'm afraid I fall into the "over the top" chroma category, myself. I especially like the one on the right! I love watching people at art shows. They definitely gravitate towards the bright colors. I was just telling my hubby that at a show one time, and just on cue we heard a lady say "OOOOh, look at that lovely colorful art!!!" That being said, I think "follow your heart" is never a bad idea ; ).
Thanks, Anne and Jessica - noted - yep, that's Provence!
Two beautiful Provencal scenes!
Hi Jon, great retouch on this. I like the shadow wall and light on the roof makes sense now. It also helped to lighten the Cyprus behind the greenhouse. The foreground shadow is better now but the lower right area reads a little too warm. Beautiful charming painting !
Thanks, Dor. Well, I think a lot of people like bright color - but I've got a suspicion that using grays with some higher chroma areas would make them sing more? On the other hand, maybe it's best to follow one's heart? Hmm....
I am learning even gray has a temperature!? You are young and enthusiastic and I enjoy seeing your work. As Richard says, to each his own about how much gray to use! I lean toward preferring bold color........smiles to you Jon : ))
