Study number 2 of a seagull perched on a concrete post near our famous Crescent City lighthouse "Battery Point". Everyone here likes painting the lighthouse but I think the seagulls make wonderful subjects as well. This painting is the companion to "Ernie the Crescent City Seagull" of my first study. Palette was only white, ultramarine blue and burnt sienna. Acrylic. Modeling paste and slow dry medium for texture.

Yes! I've sold Bert and Ernie at the Studio 74 Gallery in Fresno, CA! Thanks to the new plein air group I belong to and Dianne who had the show and runs the studio.

Thank you Montalvo! I really enjoyed using the limited palattes on both paintings which gave me a chance to focus more on the characteristics of the birds themselves, the lighting effects and the textures.
