Bradshaw Brow houses, corner shop,(demolished 1985)

This is where my art journey began. The Cotton mills, rows of terraced houses, corner shops and more, were demolished on a massive scale. The heart of many communities, ripped out without a second thought. Unemployment rose to 3.5 million. I had such little time to capture those memories. Memories etched in B&W ink pen to reflect that moment. Like a negative photo, I remember those times...

Thanks Patricia. I will be updating my work, showing the progression of my art journey. I did go to art school, college but times were so difficult, I dropped out of University to make ends meet elsewhere. I had a big family so I had to earn and put food on the table. Now I'm back painting - which will come in later posts. Thanks again.

Gosh, Richard what a heartless decision, to leave so many people homeless and without a job....  On the brighter side of this story you have a treasure of beautiful sketches, that will hopefully increase in value.  I liked the sketches even before I read the story behind them...  Well done!!
