I love this reference photo I took recently in a small town near me. Is the highlight on the door being smack in the middle a huge comp problem? I've played around with other croppings, but I keep coming back to this. Does the secondary highlight on the left wall help the eye move enough?

Thank you for doing that, Karlo! I know composition sketches are a good idea, but trying different croppings is easier. I like the easy way, but I prefer to say "efficient". ; ). I like your church painting, too. It's a similar idea with the light and shadows being the star of the show. I also see you had an even bigger challenge with all that symmetry in the church building. The trees were a good solution in your painting to keeping the door off-center! I will post another photo of the whole church.
Great photo Britt,, and good composition Karlo, I like it !!!
nice photo, I played little with crop and photoshop (in which I am beginer), maybe you find usefull for some new idea... This tree on the right side bother me little..(maybe to move it little more right in that way you can have more of the churc wall and highlight on the door will not be n the center..) There is possibilities to play with shadows on the wall for better effect ( I made that when painted local church - i will post the picture..)..I would Try some tumbnail sketches for best compositions when not sure ..
