Great painting, way better than I could do, but I still think the background needs something more, the eye feasts on the foreground then is let down a bit as it progresses the the back.
WOW! I love what you did here!
Experience, practice and talent all came to the forefront. Thanks for filling in the questions, how lucky that you've been able to enjoy painting with our mentor. Very different styles, very much yours. (3-4 days...gulp...)
Thanks for all the encouraging comments! This is not my first seascape. I have held one exhibition where about half the paintings were seascapes. I have been studying masters like E. John Robinson, Byron Pickering and Roy Lang. I have learned a lot from Richard having taken part in many of his workshops. And I have taken a lot of pictures of the Icelandic seaside.
For this painting I used only the photo provided by Richard for Workshop24 and his painting of the same scene. When I saw him mixing the greys in the demo I think something clicked for me. I used a painting knife a lot for this one and a mix of good and cheap acrylics. It took me about 3 or 4 days to paint it.
Hope that answers your questions, George.
Valur, After all these remarks and comments, appreciations, please let us know more about your work; how did you do it, in how mauch time, is this first time to paint such theme, or this is usual for you, are you painting only using acrylics or oils too, etc.etc. invent a story....................
Valur, it's great. I get the feeling that this is the place that real men set out to sea from. They come back with treasure and women and fantastic stories to tell.
Fabulous, now this IS the dark and stormy night. Really like your perspective and the energy depicted. Handling of your brush, colors, concept,... A pleasure to view. I think you might have been painting for some time.
This is nice but the water seems a little dark on the right to me, but very convincing! I can't seem to get that realistic feel to mine!
Love this.. dramatic and poetic.. tells a story
Wonderful painting, love the excitement of the water and the subdued colors of the rocks. Certainly puts your focus into that beautiful water
