This oil painting is done on a 16x20 canvas. My first attempt at water and mountains. Thanks Richard Robinson for a wonderful site for artists to communicate and learn!

I really like this painting. Good contrast between warm foreground and cool mountains with snow.  Well done!  Nuala

When I see this painting, I think of some of the Chinese brush paintings. Very Interesting.

Really like the warm glow.  And your boathouse has nice character -- which is something I truggled with.

Nice golden light on the whole scene and you've got good drawing skills. More downstrokes in the water will help and your mountains could do with another look - they're a bit too cartoony, which is what you get when you try to invent stuff you haven't really looked at before - symbols, but hey, great for a first go! If you want the mountains to really recede you'll need to lighten their value from scratch and give them some small details, much of which can be suggested with rough texture. My two cents.

Very nice painting! I think you did a great job on the water.

Love the spotlight on the boat shed and your detail of the canoes.  Well done Karen!!
