Oil on Gessobord panel 46cm x 36cm
Copy of Vermeer's famous painting. Done for exercise and to give myself a break from all the bird paintings I've been doing for my next exhibition.

Thanks Jessica. I firmly believe in the benefits of copying the old masters for practice and learning. After all, the old masters have also all done the same themselves.

By the way, in case you're interested, this was done purely by sight. No tracing, grid transfer, charcoal sketch or anything like that. Just looking carefully and applying paint. I think that's the way to get the most benefit and development.
