Thank you for the kind words, Rita! And don't give up on doing a portrait of Yana. Her coat sounds beautiful and I know with practice you will get it right.

Awesome portrait of Charlie,Beverly.  Your friend has a very beautiful memento of his beloved friend and companion. I really love the shine on his coat, I love the face and how he seems to be resting after playing, but still up for an other round of running. I tried a few times to paint my cat, Yana, but it ends up everytime as one black/white spot. No fur, no shine or light, I just can't seem to get it right. And I know that her fur isn't black at all, when the sun catches her fur it's all orange with brown stripes.

This is a beautiful painting Beverly. It is quite obvious that a lot of emotion went into this work - it shows!  I can emphasise with your friend... we also lost our beloved black lab, Cody, and still miss him so much.  Your friend has a beautiful memento of Charlie!

Thanks, Michele. Charlie was a wonderful companion to my friend. Sadly, he passed away in September 2010. He will always be remembered for his love,loyalty and playfulness.

Your friend must have loved your painting of Charlie
I love the play of light on his coat. His beautiful loyal face -you have captured Charlie beautifully
- he reminds me of my old jessie -she was a black lab
