I found the value studies quite hard, I have always worked quite big and couldn't quite get to grips with the tiny studies. i will practice this a lot more as i can see the importance of working in this way in order to develop a final piece....

Pauline,
I really like your value and color studies. Very dramatic and expressive. You stayed true to your concept. Amazing how you achieved the stormy effect with each of them.
Thank you for your comments Anne. The planning of a painting is a great way to explore different ideas etc, I'm not sure if i would have gone so dark if it hadn't been for the colour studies. :-))
I love your value study...very dramatic and moody. The preparation has certainly payed off in your final painting.
Thank you Aurelia and Rita for your valued comments:-))))
Lovely studies. You certainly got the mood and drama effect right on your b/w value study as well as on top right blue and orange study. Good job.
Great job, Pauline. Strong valuestudie and notans and your colourstudies are very strong. I really like this, the first colourstudy, the four colours, is very dramatic with its dark and heavy sky, you really can feel the upcoming storm. And the other two I like because of the colours you used, same as I did, the mood in both is so different but still very dramatic.
