I felt a need to get into more familiar territory, so did this pastel study. Pastels are so easy to work with and they allow you to experiment with colour much more freely.

This is great...I tried pastels...couldn't get the hang of it...you do really well!
I love all those bright colors! : ))
You're welcome Pauline. I particularly liked the colour harmony in this pastel study between the two mountains... I wish you luck in finishing the final painting. Take your time, as you still have another week to go... :))
Hi Patricia, thank you for taking the time to mull over my study i really do appreciate your comments. Just trying to finish my final painting a bit of a rush as i've been away for a few days....Yes, i have tried to make more of the weather effects by darkening the sky and making that light area larger and more dramatic...hope i can achieve what i initially set out to do! look forward as always to your most welcome and valued comments and suggestions:-))) Pauline
Thanks for your lovely comment Dor!:-)))
Oh WOW! This is georgous! I love it. Smiles to you Pauline........dor:))
Just had another look at your painting. This is only a very small suggestion. In my opinion the sky needs a little more drama. Emphasize that nice light area a little more on the left hand side, and darken the very top area of the sky in strategic areas to increase the mood as in your greyscale and original picture. Look forward to seeing your oil painting, Pauline... :))
Thank you very much Patricia and Rita. Doing the pastel study really did loosen my colour application up. I will try to take what i have learned from this one on to my final oil painting.:-)))
WOW!! The values and colours are excellent. Well done Pauline!!!!
Beautiful Pauline, I just love the strong colours you used, well done!!
