Luba - That's so kind of you to say. An award winner! I've heard that there are local art fairs in the States where you can enter a picture into competition. Nothing like that here in South Africa that I know of. But getting your comment was award in itself, thanks.

Michael, truly an award winner ! Love your treatment of folds in the clothing....... the pigeons pull the eye right into the painting, not to mention a great composition......

Good Morning from Canada, Michael.  This is such a beautiful painting. The composition is really fine.  I like the way the awning is used to break up the dark areas.  The doves are in perfect harmony with the elderly companions. The posture of the two gentlemen conveys their age as well as the intensity of their conversation.  You've attributed such spirit to them that I want to be part of their circle. What does the letter say? Is the judgemental daughter coming to visit with the unruly grandkids? Is it his will and he's seeking advice from his friend?   It takes my breath away. Thanks for sharing. Michael J - Michael, your critique would be much appreciated. The principle for the painting was contrast. High key foreground in full sun, versus shaded values in the background.
