Oil on stretched canvas 30"x30". This is the remake as per Michael's suggestions ie light on water, left hill, bit of colour on left trees and bringing water to foreground(it does come more to the right at the bottom but does not show in photo very much). I also added a little soft clouds onto hills beyond and brought in some trees on waters edge behind right front trees. Would appreciate if you would please let me know what you think on this makeover - and which one preferred. I think there is now bit too much light on water. Your thoughts please. Many thks. Jen

Hi Jen ....I feel that the changes you made in this painting really help to make it pop ! The strong light over the water gives it better contrast !
You are welcome to use any of my photos for future projects !
Jen, be careful, my suggestions are only for your reference. Or you will be regret as I am not that good and sometime very confused.
Ningning, thanks. have taken your comments re the light colour... hope those who liked this are not going to be disappointed as have changed it - again. Did take a photo the other week but no time to put up. Will do so in next couple of days together with couple of others. Ningning, let me know what you think of the newer one when I upload it. I always welcome any comments/critiques as so good to get other people's thoughts on artwork and helps improve our paintings. Look forward to your next thoughts.
Oh, I was working on the wrong photo. This one is just what I want to see. And, Jen, how about be braver to put some cooler light colour on the tips of the trees of the front and the right side too? very subtle and small touch?
Manneherrin and Dorian - thanks for comments. I think I do agree with you. I posted original as was at a loss as to what to do with it, and now feel the second one a bit too 'pretty' also. So... yes back to the drawing board. Am going to change it again. Will post the third one up in few days after this one dries and can then change it. Appreciate feedback on this one.
Dorian, am new to Richard's site, and still finding my way around, so unsure what you mean by 'tag'?
Hello Jen
I just saw this for the first time, so I clicked your name and got to see the previous one. I like the first one better because my eyes are going up and down.....looking at the gorgeous water then up to clouds and back and forth.......It looks to me like you have two separate paintings. Go with your gut feelings. Both are beautiful...........I will vote for which ever you have a tag for..........don't forget to put in a tag! sending you smiles : ))
I liked the previous one. but this one is pretty too
Jessica, Ann and Silvana thanks for comments. I did think more mysterious before but it just was not right and now seems all prefer this one. Being new to here would like to say again how helpful, friendly and talented everyone is here. Thank you to all for assisting on this.
Both versions are beautiful! Previously it had a mysterious mood, and a lot left to the imagination - now the lovely sheen on the water & hillside makes them more visible and more the subject of the painting along with the clouds. I'm not sure which I prefer; I like it both ways!
I think that the eye flow is much better. The clouds now relate well to the water with shared color and value.
