Glenys, I saw her yesterday and she still hand with another of her friends. Sold three birds this past year but these two are not flying off as of yet.

Dorian, thx so much. It's amazing what a splash she has made here and not very much attention oh my FB art page. Guess you can never guess what folks will like!

Deb it is wonderful to see an entire flock of these beautiful birds, but even in the townships they are seen in many places eating on the grass outside homes or on the side of the roadway.  They are not loved by all as there are so many of them and the farmers almost hate them.  I remember when I was a teenager and my grandfather came to visit and told us that he put out big nets to catch them and then walked on top to break their necks.  I never spoke to him again because of his cruelty, but many farmers have to do this to protect their livelihood.  They come in the many hundreds and strip the crops bare -- as do many other birds such as the white cockatoos. But in captivity as pets they are wonderful and can be taught to talk.

Silvana, I built layers of brush lines with a flat brush edge and then added more detail with a #1 liner.

Colleen, this is the most exciting painting.  I'm from Australia and know these birds well and this is the most realistic painting of such I have ever seen.  It looked to me as though you had pasted real feathers on the head. The eye and the cracked beak is just so so so real.  Amazing work.  If I could have painted this I would not care if I never painted again.  Hearty congratulations.
