Original oil painting by Jeri McDonald. After driving down this country road over and over again and thinking "someday I'm going to paint this", I pulled over and took a ton of pictures. Using my photoshop skills, I took clouds from another photo I took and merged them into this photo and added a few more daisies to complete the composition. I wanted to reflect the simplicity of the scene without too much attention on the red barn which in reality is slightly larger. Depth and distance were my priority so that the focus would move your eyes around the entire canvas to enjoy each nuance of the painting. I hope it makes you want to drive this road as much as I do now! I love the daisies so much. This is wet on wet technique best I could do with learning from Richard's dvds. I highly recommend them.

Hey thanks all! The daisies shadow area I made a bit darker since I was doing a wet on wet technique and wanted the white to pop. There was some shadow in the photo but I enhanced it to bring the eyes to them by creating more of a contrast.

This painting is charming. My eye is drawn from the foreground daisies up and along the line of the fence to the barn, across to the hill, via a little jiggle up the poles, then down and back along the road, then round again. It's a satisfying journey. :-)

I love the feel of the comforting golds and greens that make a nice contrast to the blue. The daisies seem kind of in the shadow a bit but it seems like that was the intention?. Very delicately done on the petals. good job

You succeeded in getting the depth you wanted and the foreground detail makes your painting work very well!
