Seriously -- awesome job.  That scarf and vase are so lifelike -- everything is just wonderful.  You are a master of texture!

Wow! I love the detail and the colors in this piece. The lace is amazing and I love the the red glass vase. Great painting!

Thanks so much, Inga, Rita and Tammy! I really had fun painting this. And since the dahlias are silk, I could leave the setup in place and take my time with it. This was painted several years ago using Genesis Heat Set Oils. If you've never tried these oils, you should. They will stay wet forever until you dry them with a heat gun or in the oven. There is a size constraint depending on the size of your oven. I made the mistake of varnishing this painting after it was dry and the varnish reacted with the paint in a very weird way. The varnish would not dry and the surface was sticky...I thought I had ruined it but I stored it in a closet and checked it every few months to see if there was any change and finally after 3 years the surface did dry and it's as good as new. I don't use these oils very often but that's ok because the paints never get old or dried out even if you leave them out on a palette.

Your detail is amazing.  I don't know how you had the patience for the lace or the patterned scarf.  I am in awe!

WOW AWESOME!!! Fantastic Beverly, I just love it. Patricia and Inga said exactly what I wanted to say, and said before with your Homegoming paintings. This is absolute amazing.
